Mission Statement
The Silver Wolf Clan is an RP PVP guild. Our goal is to build a committed community of mature, fun loving individuals with a no drama policy. Our focus is group oriented for the best overall game experience. Whether your play style is Casual or Hardcore, you will find all levels of commitment within our walls.
Silver Wolf Clan members are expected to display certain values such as; Honor, Respect, Discipline, and Trust. Once on the inside, you'll quickly learn that SWC is full of ale swilling, bar brawling, politically incorrect bastards; although we are also jovial, light hearted, fun loving individuals that enjoy giving and receiving a good ribbing. We honor ourselves, our clan, our word, and our friends. What we look for first and foremost are people that will join in the fun and camaraderie that makes SWC what we are.
Those that agree with the simple principles outlined above will find a very good community within our walls, and will come to understand that the bonds that we share are more then just those of gamers, and transcend into a supportive community of friends.
Silver Wolf Clan Guidelines
1. Treat other players with respect.
We always treat all members and guests in our community with respect. Treating others with respect includes; listening to others opinions, keeping your word, being considerate and honorable, being fair and tolerant, and generally remembering "The Golden Rule" or "treat others as you would like to be treated."
We do not publicly complain about or demean our Clan brothers or sisters. Remember the rule "Praise in public, criticize in private." In such instances that you feel slighted by anyone in the Clan due to their actions, attitude or demeanor, please address your concerns to the offending member through private channels. If they ignore your attempt to settle the dispute, please contact a member of the Clan Leadership Team for mediation. SWC officers accept mediation as one of their primary duties.
2. No Griefing, Ganking, Corpse Camping etc.*
Concepts such as griefing, ganking, corpse camping, etc... is not what SWC is about. What we are about is good competitive PvP as designed by the game mechanics, i.e. if he's hot (red), and you're feeling frisky… have at it.
3. Use appropriate language.
Swearing is certainly not forbidden in the guild (and if you've spent any time on our Vent server, you'd know *wink*); however please watch your language when dealing with other players. It is all too easy, and at times understandable, when you resort to cussing as the tempers flare, or when frustration clouds your wits. This is especially true in Vent, as voice-chatting is much more spontaneous than other forms of conversation.
We've all been there, and we've all done it. We are not talking about the camaraderie that we've all encountered, but rather a situation where you cant string together a sentence without dropping a couple of "F bombs" and a few other colorful adjectives. Please always try to be respectful of others, and be mindful of those around you.
Note: If you are on the receiving end of such an outburst, either directly or indirectly, and know it to be an isolated incident or uncommon given the source, we ask that you simply let it go.
4. While role-playing, use language appropriate to my character's personality only so far as to entertain, never to demean.
Basically, if you are a Cimmerian that doesn't much care for Stygians [and who would], we're not going to stop you from getting an edge in your voice around your own antagonists, even to the extent of being curt or even down right rude in certain cases. However, please ensure that this is all in good, healthy fun.
Note: It is also important to point out in such cases, that we must all have a good solid sense of humor, and not take things too personally. Treat all comments as a good source of camaraderie and fun unless it's taken to level that pushes past common sense.
5. Do not use sexual explicit or derogatory language.
Sexual language is any comment that could be considered sexist, derogatory toward a specific gender, or any comment that refers to a sexual act. These types of comments, however innocent, you can be sure will be found offensive by someone. We do not in any way condone use of sexual innuendos or comments, in the guild-chat, on forums, or in any of the chat channels within the game.
Note: Flirtatious behavior is an act between two adults that are both consenting and having a bit of fun. We of course encourage this type of camaraderie, and if those involved are known to take it to an extreme at times, this is all part of a healthy environment; as long as the boundaries are not crossed and the parties are not made to feel uncomfortable.
6. Do not comment on Religion or Politics.
It has been my experience that debates on either of these two topics cannot be discussed without reverting to name-calling, flaming, and often times fist-fights. Furthermore, even the most harmless comment on these topics can be found offensive by many. Consider this your warning that we do not allow comments or discussions of any kind concerning the real-life topics of religion or politics.
7. Do Not Imply Malice Unless Malice is Implied
The Silver Wolf Clan is full of ale swilling, bar brawling, politically incorrect bastards. We are also jovial, light hearted and fun loving individuals that enjoy giving and receiving a good ribbing. Those that join our ranks should be thick-skinned with the ability to be quick witted and also allow things to slide. If someone makes a personal attack on your religion, your loved ones, your pets, your taste in liquor, food, games, women, men, clothes, or your sexual orientation, it is your duty as a Silver Wolf to interpret their remarks as good-natured ribbing. You must assume their puns to be friendly poking, unless in explicit terms they leave no uncertainty as to their intent (i.e. "I'm not kidding around here…")
In the eyes of the Silver Wolf Clan, those who take offense to those who did not mean any harm and refuse to forgive are ALWAYS in the wrong. Now, if the person who offended you did NOT sincerely apologize, this should be reported to a Clan Elder.
If at any time you do feel that you are being scrutinized unfairly, pressured, ridiculed or treated in a manner that goes beyond what we have described above, please seek out a member of the clan leadership team and report the incident to them. Arbitration among members is one of the first duties of the leaders of the clan; and we will notify the individual(s) and put a stop to the behavior immediately.
It's important to always remember that our community is a diverse group and what one finds funny another may not; but nevertheless, we feel confident that those that are Silver Wolf are good natured fun loving people that at heart would not mean any harm in the humor they use, and are only trying for a laugh.
REMEMBER: Once again -- Someone harassing or persecuting you is an ENTIRELY different matter, and will be handled accordingly. We have a zero tolerance policy towards malicious behavior and it will be dealt with swiftly.
Code of Conduct
No Drama
We are a clan free of drama. Those that argue excessively, make personal attacks, threaten or belittle other individuals will quickly learn that our policy on the subject is strict and will be enforced without prejudice. A warning will be issued for lesser offensives, but repeated behavior will ultimately lead to the person(s) being removal from the clan. The leadership will always do what is in the best interest of the clan - not individuals… So if this means removing members that are a detriment to our growth, we reserve the right to act accordingly to remove the problem without any an encyclopedic explanation.
SWC members will honor its leaders. The leadership of the clan is composed of a Chieftain, Council Elders and Officers that run the day to day actives of the clan. The leading body of the clan is not immune to the rules, and will be expect to uphold the same ideals and will be held to the same standards as each of the members.
Focus on the group
Let's get started with a little general philosophy shall we?
One of the words you may encounter on the inside is "familial". While that's not a common word in today's language, it's a pretty accurate one when used to describe the atmosphere we try to establish around our playing experience. We're building ourselves around the group. We want to play as a group. We want to have fun as a group. We want to hunt as a group. We want to quest as a group. We want to RP as a group. There really is no reason to pursue interest in joining SWC if the goal is to be solo player yet chat socially in the guild channels. While there is nothing wrong with solo play, constant solo play at the expense of group events or the group atmosphere of SWC is discourage. We want to be a clan that never ignores a member who comes online, and will always make sure to extend an invitation to join a group.
"Familial" also describes a generous and reciprocal relationship between a group of players in which equipment and loot are passed to those who need them most. In our groups, we plan to follow a "need before greed" loot rotation, and to make sure that valuable equipment is offered to those in the clan who might benefit from it before taking it to the marketplace. At the same time, we are "familial" not "communal", and individuals will be free to build their own wealth, seek out treasures for collection and outfit their own characters as well as they are able. We will focus on generosity and reciprocity rather than on mandating that members turn over their gold and loot to the clan.
No player left behind. This is also a very important part of the SWC, as we feel that in an MMO the reason those that generally play are here for the group efforts and the camaraderie that is offered from a clan. So we like to emphasize that no player will be left as long as they make the effort to log on and get involved. With the master apprentice system that will be offered in AoC, the tools will be there for characters to facilitate nights that are devoted to all levels of characters, and using the guidance of those that have achieved a high level of advancement to help run events and dungeon crawls that will help aid those of lower ranks to achieve their goals.
Roleplaying
We mentioned RP, so that looks like a good place to progress.
SWC is a RP PVP clan. We're not hardcore. We're not going to police you. We're not going to make fun of the way you're RP'ing, because you're going to be around other RP'rs. We're not going to slap you on the wrist and tell you how you are RP'ing your character wrong and that it should be done this way or that (course it does need to be somewhat within the continuity of the game and the SWC background, so no Elf characters. Use common sense). We want to encourage you to RP. If you haven't done much roleplay before or haven't found a roleplay style that is comfortable for you, that doesn't matter. It only matters that you make the attempt while in game and grouped. There are a variety of ways to participate in SWC RP, from live RP online in the game, to interactive roleplay threads on the forums, to posting your character biography and fiction for others to read.
Now we're not 100% RP. Our position on roleplay places more emphasis on respect for fellow members than on maintaining a hard-core roleplay environment. If members are roleplaying or if there is a particular roleplay event going on, respecting that by limiting "OOC" chat is appreciated. Other times, the guild chat channel may be buzzing with topics from game mechanics to personal life. Remember that SWC has a lounge forum where you can pursue any conversation, anytime.
Your Character's background is pretty important.
In keeping with the roleplay idea, we do emphasize a characters bio and background. There are several reasons for this, the main of course is that we are a RP PVP clan and to mesh well into the community we do need to know a bit about your character, there are some tools in the Annals area that help facilitate this, and we as a group are always more then willing to help work shop ideas and storylines.
We are Cimmerian based clan, but our lore has pointed out that everyone has their usefulness, and we have adopted that philosophy. Being a multi racial group, there can be some snags that present themselves as in the world of Hyboria, many of the races do not get along, and war with each other. But we are not so strict that we cannot recognize that many unlikely unions have been made, and the idea that most races have the opinion that everyone has their uses even those that hold at some distance. So your bio might have to be a bit creative if you choose to play a race other than Cimmerian. Again, we can help with this, so don’t be intimidated.
Economics of SWC
Our philosophy regarding economics and trade between members of SWC in AoC is based on generosity, on working together, and on the benefits derived by every individual from giving to the group. There may not be perfect reciprocity, give and take for every individual may not always be perfectly balanced, but in a "familial" system, you don't keep a count.
