How to power two 40watt amps?
For an up coming parade I, and a few other people, have this idea of a moving stage. If we hook a flat trailer up to a truck we have enough room to carry a drum set, 2 amps, and a few people. However, we're not sure how to power the amps. A generator is out of the question and I don't think the trucks battery will be able to power it. Help please.
If the truck is to continue running, it could carry the power load. The battery is not the important consideration, the alternator is what must supply the power, which it probably is perfectly capable of. Just keep other electrical use to a minimum!
Do indeed, provide a protective fuse in the power line, and do use heavy gauge wire from the battery terminal (or the starter terminal end of the cable). Some saving can be had by using chassis negative return, so make sure trailer is bonded to truck chassis by a heavy enough cable. Don't rely on the hitch.
