What is a voltage comparator? For my frig?
I live in Mexico. The voltage running thru to the houses can be sporadic. We just burnt up something in our refrigerator. The tech said a voltage regulator is not sufficient. And that I need a voltage comparator. What is this? Where can I buy one online for household use?
I'm not sure what the tech is talking about.
In electronics, a voltage regulator holds the output voltage at a preset level, regardless of the input voltage's variation (within reason). A voltage comparator is simply a logic circuit that compares one voltage against another and puts out either a logic "1" or a "0" depending upon the comparison results.
He might have been referring to a UPS (uninterruptable power supply) which will maintain power to your fridge, regardless of what the AC line voltage does.
